EAST MEADOW, NY – At 9:47 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 the East Meadow Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on Merrick Avenue at Luddington Road. Two vehicles had crashed into one another resulting in three injured and one dead.
According to officials, a 26 year old man was driving a 2004 Acura southbound on Merrick Avenue with two teenage passengers when he crashed into a 2008 Audi driven by a 56 year old woman. The Audi was making a left onto Merrick Avenue from Luddington Road when the Acura struck her vehicle. Officials believe the Audi may have been drag racing based on what numerous witnesses have stated, although no official statement has been released at the time of this articles writing.
One of the teenage passengers, a 13 year old boy, is listed in critical condition while the other teenage passenger, a 16 year old male, and the 26 year old driver were hospitalized for their injuries. The 56 year old woman, who was driving the Audi, was pronounced dead at the scene.
